CALGARY INCLUSIVE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
The Calgary Inclusive Hockey Association (CIHA) was formed with one goal in mind – to create a local hockey organization and social environment with a focus on LGBTQ equality in sport. Under this registered non-profit association, the Calgary Pioneers have been playing in Winsport’s WHCL recreation hockey league since 2015. The Villagers had their first season in 2017 and are now our beginner team under the CIHA umbrella.
We are “Pioneers” of LGBTQ hockey awareness in Alberta and our teams consist of players of all skill levels. We feature year-round official league play with the full support from the WHCL, as well as seasonal skill clinics and social ice times.
We are the hosts of the annual Western Cup Hockey Tournament, which attracts teams from across Canada to play in an LGBTQ friendly environment every spring.
GET IN THE GAME:
The Calgary Inclusive Hockey Association is always looking to welcome new players to our ever growing community. We’re looking for 2SLGBTQ+ and any other players looking for a more community focused/supportive hockey experience.
