Women+ Soccer Detroit was founded in March 2023 with the vision of providing a space for women and non-binary adults to play soccer.
Women+ Soccer Detroit started with two pick-up sessions on March 11 and March 18, 2023. The reception of this initiative was overwhelmingly positive, so Women+ Soccer continued to host pick-ups. As more folks learned about the group, it began to grow. Over the weeks, participants doted on Women+ Soccer's encouraging community and their perceivable increase in skills and confidence on the ball. In July 2023, Women+ Soccer participated in its first tournament: the Icarus Cup in Philadelphia.
Playing and competing in soccer is for us, too.
